Dr Roger Brown BM BCh MRCP PhD

Biography

Dr Brown is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Hypertension Specialist in Edinburgh with clinics looking after patients with a wide range of hormonal and hypertensive problems including joint genetic clinics looking after families with rare inherited conditions complicated by endocrine and hypertensive problems. He participates in the Hypertension Clinic at WGH within the Hypertension Excellence Centre accredited by the European Society of Hypertension.

Dr Brown has a clinical special interest in Endocrine Hypertension and longstanding interests in endocrine disorders and the renal and endocrine mechanisms in the origin of hypertension. He has been involved in characterising corticosteroid hormonal and intrinsic renal kinase pathways regulating blood pressure and electrolyte handling. He has also been involved in work with national studies of rare endocrine tumours affecting blood pressure and studies of anti-hypertensive use. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh also running courses and modules involving Clinical Biochemistry, Endocrinology and Cardiovascular Medicine.
